Every story, project and business has a beginning, and this year was ours. 2018 has without a doubt been one of the most life-changing years for us to date. It has completely forged who we are as individuals, a company, and the stories we will go on to tell.

This year we traded our 9-5’s for a ‘when I open my eyes, until I close my eyes’. We exchanged all the office routines that we had previously known in order to fully embrace a digital nomadic lifestyle, offering our creative services freely, completely irrespective of geography. Where did this new journey begin? The White Isle.

“In those days, we didn’t come to Ibiza to change our lives. We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we were going to do something different.”

We had heard about the creative side of Ibiza – hidden beneath the facade of the party lifestyle. For decades Ibiza has been attracting artists and creative people from around the world, as it turns out – we formed part of that. The island’s reputation for being a place of mysteries, magnetic energies and a birthplace of creativity couldn’t have been more prominent for us; it became the perfect backdrop for a summer spent falling in love with photography and collaborating with brands from all over the world.

‘You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.’

Elizabeth Gilbert.

Our apartment was located inside these 16th-century Renaissance city walls, positioned down a cobbled white-washed alleyway in the heart of the medieval quarter. Islands seem to have a magical way of providing you with what you need – we didn’t know what that was, but on reflection, we got that and so much more. Even we were not prepared for life inside the castle walls.

“Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”

― Elizabeth Gilbert.

After quickly finding our feet on the island, our passion  to create deepened and we began working with international fashion, wine and jewellery brands. As well as partnering with beautiful hotels & restaurants across the island.

‘We let our lives mix with our dreams like two coloured paints, until we didn’t know which is what and we didn’t care.’

This heightened enjoyment that we found largely emerged due to the control that we were now able to have over our work life and our work environment. We made a conscious choice to only work on projects that align with our values, whilst working at a time and location that suits us and our creative flow.

“Step into this experience with butterflies in your bones; with a nervous feeling so beautiful, you know you’re doing something right.”

– D Antionette

Although we felt like the summer would never end, the days got shorter, the city slowly emptied and the beaches required knitwear. As bittersweet as it was to pack up our things and leave the island, we were ready for our new adventure. October brought us to our new home in Barcelona, which we fell in love with instantly.

You don’t have to move mountains. Simply fall in love with life. Be a tornado of happiness, gratitude and acceptance. You will change the world just by being in it.

– Anita Krizzan

We moved into our brand new space which housed us both & a studio for us to work from. The high ceilings and open plan layout have provided us with lots of room to create, and the incredible projects we have worked on over the past few months have enabled us to hire some extremely talented humans – which we cannot wait to introduce you to! (blog post pending) All of these pieces coming together have allow us to create on a much larger scale, which feels like a total dream true.

We surely encountered hurdles – as you do in all aspects of life, but when we did, we tried our best to maintain the positive and inspired energy that we discovered back on the island. After all, when you are doing what you love, there is always a solution, and as we entered one of the busiest and most testing phases of our life, all of the dots seemed to connect, which defintiely felt like magic.

‘Let’s go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday’

‘Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it’.

It’s safe to say there have definitely been some blurred lines when it has come to embracing the self employed lifestyle (there were some valuable lessons that we learned and shared here if you fancy a laugh at our expense!). We’ve wined and dined our way through client meetings, days have often turn into nights, and we are no strangers to  4 /5 am finishes. All of this is made completely possible by the love we have for our work.

‘To me, a rich and satisfying life means one full of contrast. Give me sleep ins. And soft rains. Coffee shops and conversation. But also adrenaline and adventure. And drunken bellows to the stars. I am determined to embrace this extravagant life for all that it has to offer’

Beau Tapin

This year we have been fortunate enough to watch clients become dear friends, and projects take new forms of life. Back in March if someone had turned around to the two girls sat at the airport waiting to board a plane to Ibiza, and said that we would be working with the brands that we are, and living in the city that we do, we wouldn’t have believed it. Boy are we glad though.

‘Every component of life can be artistic, from how your lunch is arranged on the plate to the books you keep on your shelves, the words you hold in your mind to how you dress every morning to the pillows on your sofa. Everything can be art and that’s far more fascinating to me than beauty. And one day, when I’m an old lady, I’ll look back on how artful I made my world rather than how beautiful the world thought I was’

Audrey Leighton

To top an amazing year off, it only seemed right that we ended our working year in a magical place, and we chose Paris. We wanted to treat ourselves to a Christmas party to remember, and that’s exactly what it was.

‘I am going to make everything around me beautiful, that will be my life.’

Elsie de Wolfe

Writing this post as a reflection of 2018 has been both emotional and humbling. We can hand on heart say that we will never experience a year like this one, but we are so incredibly excited for what 2019 is going to bring.

Thank you for sticking with us on our journey, and we cannot wait to share this next year with you.
